The iconic Beetles song is originally ‘strawberry fields forever’, not canola fields, which seems appropriate seeing that the canola fields, like most things in life, do not bloom forever. They are, however, extremely pretty when they are in full bloom. When my friends joined me mid-week for a little outing to the pollen fields, the flowers weren’t in full bloom. I was very eager to rather go earlier than later, seeing that the previous occasion I wanted to take pictures in the fields, I was too late, and the fields were already regressing. This time I nailed the timing, and we managed to get beautiful pictures. Karla wore a red dress she made herself and Janke wore an oversized blue knit of note also made by Karla’s brand, Rustig Clothing.

I think we technically trespassed on the farmer’s land but in our defense, the gate stood unimpeded, graciously inviting us in. I don’t know if that’s what they want, but they were very gracious all the same. Fortunately, nothing bad happened and I’m delighted to say I enjoyed the little adventure tremendously.
